'Kim Min-jae award contender' → 'A partner for the defense?'...Munich targets Serie A's top defender..."Very versatile"
Bayern Munich are preparing to sign one of Serie A's best fullbacks as part of an overhaul of their defense.
Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Sports Germany who is well versed in Bayern news, reported on his personal social media account on Thursday that the Bavarians have listed Theo Hernandez as a possible replacement for Alfonso Davies.
Bayern have been heavily linked with a move for left-back Alfonso Davies to Real Madrid in recent days. According to Germany's Sky Sports, "The bidding war for Davies is intensifying. Bayern are also considering his successor," the German outlet reported.
Davies has been Bayern's left-back since 2018, and he has been a regular in the side since the 2019-2020 season. However, Real have recently shown interest in Davies due to their lack of a left full-back, and Davies has also asked Bayern for a huge pay rise. While Bayern have publicly expressed their desire to keep Davies, they have also made plans to sell him.
Plettenberg added: 'Theo is very versatile on the left flank. While there is nothing concrete at this stage, Bayern are preparing a solution for Davies.
