Dwight Yorke, formerly in charge of Manchester United's front line, has called for the signing of Son Heung-min.

Since the arrival of Eric van Gaal, United's front line has been manned by a total of three players. In the early days of Van Gaal's tenure, Cristiano Ronaldo led the team's attack, and after Ronaldo's departure, Butt Verhoeven was brought in on loan. This season, it's Rasmus Hojlund.

He arrived at Old Trafford in a £72 million deal last summer. However, rather than being a talent to lead the Red Devils, he is seen as a striker with a lot of potential to develop. He has seven goals and one assist in all competitions this season.

Man Utd's name recognition has been lackluster. As such, the Red Devils have been linked with a number of strikers this winter transfer window. Eric Maxime Choupo-Moting has been linked with the likes of Karim Benzema and Ivan Toney.

However, Yorke has his pick of who United should sign, telling Footy Accumulators: "I wouldn't describe Hoyun as useless. I know he's in a very difficult situation, he might have potential, but there's no one around to teach him," he said, first pointing out United's situation.

"Benzema will bring a lot of experience, but the club has already tried that strategy with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and others. It worked out fine. He still has moments of magic every now and then, but he's not the player United need. They need to sign a player like Son Heung-min who can make a difference to the team."

Van Persie left Arsenal for United in the summer of 2012 at the age of 30. Van Persie scored 30 league goals for Arsenal in the 2011-12 season, but the Gunners failed to win the title. After finishing second in the league in 2011-12, Sir Ferguson recognized his talent and signed him, and in 2012-13, the club won the league and Van Persie was the top scorer.
